Samgak Children’s Park – A Hidden Gem in Seoul

Located in Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul, Triangular Children’s Park is designed to provide a spacious and pleasant area for local children to play freely and safely. The park is themed around embarking on adventures to play planets like the sun, moon, and comets orbiting the Earth. Inside the park, you’ll find dynamic and creative play equipment such as climbing playsets, toddler play areas, net combination playsets, trampolines, hexagonal swings, see-saws, and a zip line that children love.

“Guro-gu Oryu-dong Square in Seoul is a plaza located in front of Exit 3 of Oryu Station on Subway Line 1. Facing Oryu Station, on the left side you’ll find exercise facilities, benches, and a walking path for local residents to gather and relax, while on the right side there is a public parking lot. This square serves as a meeting place for locals to enjoy various events such as programs and bazaars, making it a convenient space for their daily lives.”

Onsu Park in Guro-gu, Seoul.

Located in Guro-gu, Seoul, Onsu Park was designated as an urban natural park in 1971. This park boasts a typical natural setting with good air quality and diverse plant life, including well-preserved trees and other vegetation. Surrounding the hiking trails are refreshing springs, badminton courts, fitness areas, seating for relaxation, as well as exercise equipment like parallel bars and waist twisters placed throughout the trails, attracting many visitors from the local community.

Leeumulino Park (Guro Community Park)

“Guro Civic Park was established in August 2008 as a relaxing space for local residents. It is a perfect cultural outing spot for families, surrounded by various cultural and arts spaces such as Guro Citizens’ Hall. At the park entrance, there is a sculpture celebrating the friendship between Guro District and its sister city, Issy-les-Moulineaux in France. Guro Civic Park features a large performance stage, outdoor stage, fountain, indoor shelter, and outdoor benches, extending to a school park created by opening the walls of nearby Yeongrim Middle School. Situated near Guro Street Park and Guro Library, the park serves as the starting point of Art Valley Road, which is about a 10-minute walk away. It is also connected to the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service. A prominent cultural space within the park is Guro Art Valley Arts Theater on the left side. The theater’s main hall and gallery are utilized as spaces for residents to experience culture, while the indoor shelter provides a tranquil resting place directly linked to Guro Civic Park. The 150m path leading from Guro Civic Park to the main gate of Yeongrim Middle School has been designated as ‘Seoul’s Desired Walking Path,’ lined with beautiful rows of ginkgo trees, offering a pleasant walking route.”

Cheonwang Neighbourhood Park

Cheonwang Neighborhood Park is located on the border of Guro-gu, and when the lotus flowers bloom in the pond, it offers a beautiful view. During the summer, it temporarily turns into a water play area, perfect for spending time with kids. There is also a camping site, but please note that operating hours and dates are fixed, and cooking is not allowed, so it’s best to check in advance before visiting. It’s a great urban oasis for families to relax together in various ways.

Seoul Guro-gu ‘Cultural Railway 959’

“The Culture Railway 959 is a multi-cultural space located within Sindorim Station. Utilizing excellent accessibility and safety, it has been transformed into a space where diverse cultures can be enjoyed through art and culture. Created with the goal of providing leisure space and stimulating the local economy, it is a collaborative effort between Guro-gu, Guro Cultural Foundation, and the artist group Toka Art. The Culture Railway 959 offers venue rental services and operates a kids’ cafe for visitors to enjoy.”

“It is a food street near the Guro Digital Complex Station. Known for its clean and simple setups, Guro-gu’s excellent restaurants are leading the way in improving wasteful food culture. The term ‘kkalkkalgeori’ comes from the idea that restaurants serve food neatly and customers eat without leaving a mess, giving rise to this unique name. Among the eateries here, certified ‘kkalkkal franchise’ restaurants offer a 2% discount (points accumulation) to guests who finish their meal neatly. They also make efforts to improve food culture by providing take-out containers for leftover food. Kkalkkalgeori is home to many famous eateries and is a popular spot for office workers in the surrounding area, bustling with a lot of foot traffic during the evening hours.”
