When Yi Bang-won overcame a prince’s rebellion and became King Taejong, Yi Seong-gye retreated to Hamheung. Upon the earnest requests of his courtiers, Yi Seong-gye returned from Hamheung and was welcomed by Yi Bang-won at Jungnangcheon. At that moment, Taejo shot an arrow towards Taejong. The arrow missed and struck the ground, leading to the area being known as the place where the arrow landed. This name evolved from “Arrow-Struck Place” to “Arrow-Landed Place” and eventually to “Salgoti.”
